Tech Pack

What Is A Tech Pack?

A tech pack is a technical document that tells a garment factory exactly how to make a style. It contains a flat sketch, measurements, fabric details, colours, print and embroidery placement, trims and labels. A complete tech pack lets a manufacturer quote accurately and produce a correct sample the first time.

What a sportswear tech pack must include

Factories work from detail, so the more precise your document, the fewer sample rounds you need.

  • Flat sketches of the front, back and side views
  • A measurement chart with sizes and tolerances
  • Fabric type, weight and colour references
  • Print, sublimation or embroidery artwork with exact placement
  • Trims such as zips, drawcords, elastics and labels
  • Stitching and seam notes such as flatlock or overlock
  • Packaging and labelling instructions

Do you need a tech pack to get a quote?

You can start with a reference garment or photos and a short brief. A factory can quote from that, but a tech pack gives a more accurate price and avoids surprises later.

Common tech pack mistakes

The most common problems are missing measurements, vague colour descriptions and artwork that is low resolution. Use Pantone references or colour swatches and send vector artwork where possible.

What if I do not have a tech pack?

Many new brands do not. Spall Sports can work from reference garments, photos and sketches, and help turn them into a production ready specification.

How we use your tech pack

Our team checks the tech pack, drafts the pattern, develops a sample and sends it for approval. Once you sign off the sample, the same specification drives bulk production and quality control.
